Jayant Krishna

CEO & COO of the National Skill Development Corporation

Jayant Krishna led key initiatives of the Prime Minister's Skill India mission as CEO & COO of the National Skill Development Corporation. He had championed apprenticeship reforms in India that led to a new Act passed by the Parliament. He has extensive experience of working with Government of India, especially with the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship and Ministry of Education (previously MHRD) on a number of initiatives of national importance. Jayant later became the first Indian to be appointed Group CEO of the UK India Business Council. As Founding CEO of the Foundation for Advancing Science and Technology, he pushed for key reforms in India’s R&D space. His career spans across industry, government, think tanks, and nonprofits. In the Tata group, he was in global leadership roles at the tech giant Tata Consultancy Services. As Executive Director at the Silicon Valley nonprofit WF, he worked on reforms for job creation in India. He is a Senior Fellow at CSIS, Washington, DC, and serves on various Boards. Jayant is currently a Member, Board of Governors of India’s no. 1 ranked girls boarding school, Welham Girls, Dehradun. Не studied at the University of Leeds as a British Chevening Scholar, taught at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, and teaches at the Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow. He received an Honorary Doctorate and the APJ Abdul Kalam Award for Innovation in Governance in 2016. He has published many OpEds and is a frequent panellist on TV channels. Jayant now mentors organizations requiring a breakthrough in their performance.
